Canceling your trip

Learn how to cancel a booking at any stage, understand refund policies, and avoid penalties while maintaining your renter rating.

Plans can change and that's okay. Ridee makes it simple to cancel a trip at any stage, whether you've just made a booking request or already confirmed your reservation. Here's everything you need to know about canceling safely, smoothly, and within policy.

Canceling before your trip is confirmed

If your booking request hasn't yet been accepted by the host:

  • You can cancel anytime without being charged
  • Simply go to your Trips page, select the pending booking and tap Cancel Request
  • Your payment method will not be charged or any pre-authorization hold will be released automatically

Tip: If you change your mind, you can always submit a new request for the same or another car.

Canceling after your trip is confirmed

Once a host confirms your booking, your trip is officially scheduled and cancellation rules apply based on the host's chosen cancellation policy.

  • To cancel, go to My Trips in the Ridee app or website
  • Select the upcoming trip, tap Cancel Trip and follow the prompts
  • You'll see a clear breakdown of any refund, fees, or deductions before confirming your cancellation

Refunds and cancellation fees

Refunds depend on how close to the trip start time you cancel:

  • Free cancellation: Many hosts allow free cancellations within a set window (for example, 24–48 hours before pickup)
  • Partial refund: Canceling closer to the trip start time may incur a partial fee
  • No refund: Canceling after the scheduled pickup time often results in forfeiting your payment

The specific terms for your trip appear before you confirm cancellation.

Canceling after pickup

If your trip has already begun, cancellations aren't permitted through the app. Instead:

  • Contact your host first to explain the situation
  • Then reach out to Ridee Support for guidance, especially in cases involving early returns, emergencies or disputes

If your host cancels

In rare cases where a host must cancel:

  • You'll receive a full refund for the trip
  • Ridee may assist you in finding a similar replacement vehicle at no extra cost
  • Your account will not be penalized in any way

Avoiding penalties

To maintain a great experience and protect your renter rating:

  • Always cancel through the app (never offline or by message)
  • Cancel as early as possible to give hosts time to rebook
  • Review the host's cancellation policy before booking, especially for long trips or busy weekends
