During your trip: Safe & responsible vehicle use

Safety and responsibility guidelines for using your Ridee vehicle during your trip

Your safety and your host's vehicle matter to us. Once your trip begins, following Ridee's safety and responsibility guidelines helps ensure a smooth, protected and enjoyable experience from start to finish.

Drive safely and follow all laws

While the car is in your care, you're responsible for operating it safely and legally. Always:

  • Obey all local traffic rules, speed limits and parking regulations
  • Keep your driver's license and insurance documents with you at all times
  • Avoid distracted driving. Don't text or use your phone while driving unless hands-free

Important: Unsafe or reckless driving (including speeding, off-roading or impaired driving) may result in trip termination, loss of Ridee coverage or account suspension.

Use only approved drivers

Only the verified guest(s) listed on the trip can drive the vehicle.

  • Adding unapproved drivers violates Ridee's policy and voids protection
  • If another person needs to drive, they must create their own Ridee account and book separately

Keep the vehicle secure and clean

Treat your host's vehicle as you would your own:

  • Park only in safe, legal areas
  • Lock the car and secure the keys when not in use
  • Keep the vehicle interior tidy and avoid smoking or eating if your host's rules prohibit it

Excessive dirt, stains or odors may result in a cleaning fee after your trip.

Monitor vehicle condition during your trip

Stay alert for warning lights or unusual sounds.

If you notice a problem (e.g., tire issues, low oil or mechanical concerns):

  • Pull over safely
  • Contact your host immediately through the Ridee app
  • If necessary, reach out to Ridee Support for guidance or roadside assistance

Never attempt major repairs without approval from Ridee or your host. Unauthorized repairs or servicing may not be reimbursed.

Accidents or breakdowns

If an accident or breakdown occurs:

  1. Ensure everyone's safety first. Move to a secure location and contact emergency services if needed
  2. Report the incident to your host and Ridee Support as soon as possible through the app
  3. Do not admit fault or make side agreements with third parties

Ridee will assist with next steps, including claims processing, towing or replacement vehicle arrangements if applicable.

Fuel, charging and mileage

Check your trip listing for your host's expectations regarding:

  • Fuel type or charging requirements
  • Whether the car should be returned full, partially full or recharged
  • Any mileage limits or overage fees

Keeping these details in mind during your trip helps avoid extra charges at return.

Emergencies or unexpected events

If something unexpected disrupts your trip like extreme weather, medical emergencies or security concerns:

  • Prioritize your safety and contact local authorities if needed
  • Notify your host and Ridee Support as soon as possible
  • Follow any guidance provided for trip extensions, adjustments or early returns

Protecting your Ridee coverage

To stay covered under Ridee's policies:

  • Operate the car only during your active trip period
  • Keep all communication and changes within the Ridee app
  • Never hand over the car to unverified users or drive outside approved regions
  • Failure to follow these guidelines may result in partial or full loss of Ridee protection
