Rebooking or modifying an existing reservation
Change trip dates, switch vehicles, update details, or extend your reservation with simple in-app modifications that require host approval.
Plans evolve and with Ridee, adjusting your trip is simple. Whether you need to change dates, switch vehicles or update trip details, we make sure you can manage everything right from your app or account dashboard.
Changing your trip details
You can modify most trip details before your scheduled pickup time, as long as your host approves the changes.
To update your trip:
- Go to My Trips in the Ridee app or website
- Select the trip you'd like to change
- Tap Modify Trip
- Update one or more of the following:
- Pickup or return time
- Pickup or drop-off location (if the host allows it)
- Add-ons or extras (like GPS, chargers, or child seats)
- Trip duration (shorter or longer)
Your host will receive a notification to review and approve your modification request.
Tip: Send your modification request early, especially if you're changing times or extending your trip to avoid late fees or cancellation penalties.
Extending your trip
Need more time? You can request a trip extension directly in the app before your scheduled return time.
- Go to your active trip and tap Extend Trip
- Choose your new end date and time
- Wait for host approval, most respond within minutes
- Once approved, your total cost will automatically adjust and payment will process accordingly
If your host declines or doesn't respond in time, return the car at the original agreed time to avoid additional fees.
Shortening your trip
You can shorten your trip before it starts by submitting a modification request. If you reduce the duration:
- Your total cost may decrease, depending on the host's refund and cancellation policy
- Once the trip begins, shortening it early won't usually result in a refund
Check the host's policy before confirming any change.
Switching to a different vehicle or rebooking
If your plans change completely or you prefer a different car:
- Cancel your current trip first before the agreed pickup schedule (review cancellation terms)
- Then, rebook another vehicle that fits your updated schedule
- Ridee will automatically apply any eligible refund balance toward your new booking
Pro tip: If your host agrees, you can sometimes transfer to another of their vehicles directly, avoiding a full cancellation.
Host-initiated changes
Sometimes a host may suggest modifying your booking (for example, adjusting pickup time or meeting location).
You'll receive a notification or message in-app to review and approve the proposed change before it takes effect.
Important reminders
- All modifications require host approval
- Changes after pickup aren't permitted unless you're extending your trip
- If your modification increases the trip total, Ridee will automatically process the extra payment upon approval
- Always make changes through the Ridee app, not by private message, to keep your trip protected
